Creating has always been a learning asset in mindful photography
These images are all inspired by the wellspring of imagination, arising when taking the time to be present while traveling and meditating with my camera. I can truly say that they have been the outcome of what led me to continue as a photographer. The saying of learning to forget and relearn over again has its meaning. The technical knowledge as a professional photographer over the last 30 years has come to this. I am an artist, and I have the natural tendency of using my camera to define the magic that is presented to me in the moment. Mindful photography is a way for me to express myself through what I see.
My favorite moment is when I have set up my studio equipment in a specific location to photograph a personal portrait for branding or for a personal project. Working with available light makes it much easier for me to capture the essence. Creating an intimate moment, while making the ambiance relaxing and personal, builds trust to allow the originality and authenticity to emerge in the moment. Creation isn’t something that can be programmed; it unfolds naturally, step by step. In this intricate process, I utilized a flash system light source in my studio, drawing inspiration from a project and essay. The goal was to showcase the overall sense of fun, grace, and the strength embodied by a vibrant young teenager.
The session kicked off with spontaneous dancing to our favorite music, a playful and purely enjoyable start. As time passed, the atmosphere shifted organically, becoming more relaxed and focused. This transformation allowed me to capture a blend of expressions, each orchestrated by the flow of the session and the teenager’s own essence.
In the realm of post-production, I found myself creating in the moment. The project led me to lay out a series of images, relying on intuition and keen observation to weave them together. This is where I began crafting compositions, skillfully combining elements of facial expression. The end result is a contemporary portrait that encapsulates the essence of a dramatic reflection.
