Embracing Photography: A Journey of Resilience

Time patience passion and resilience

“The adventure of composing with images began long before I could even talk. It was due to my father’s passion for photography that I would spend hours looking through his cabinet, visualizing pictures captured with his D.R.P Leica. I have always been a dreamer; it was one thing I excelled at. I remember yearning to find a way to escape the feeling of failure, provoked by the learning disability that made me shy and closed off to others. Every day at school brought uncertainty about what I was truly learning. It wasn’t until my 20s that I discovered I was dyslexic; a realization that came just as I was being introduced to photography. While completing my degree in Social Studies, I decided to take a complementary course in photography.
The moment I discovered the process of black-and-white development and the magic of the darkroom, all my doubts seemed to fade away. Something clicked. I dove headfirst into learning the craft, eventually pursuing professional training at the Dawson Institute of Photography. Those three years truly saved me from the darkness I had created, providing a guiding light and casting clarity on my educational journey.
Today, after 30 years of redefining my life’s achievements in photography, video animation, and content creation, I see visual creation as a process that grows from a deep understanding of technique, a clear sense of purpose, and the inspiration that reveals itself before me, much like composing a piece of
visual art.”
